Country: Netherlands
Closing date: 15 Dec 2017
NGO Niños de Guatemala (NDG) is looking for an Operations Manager and Fundraiser in the Netherlands who wants to contribute to break the cycle of poverty in Guatemala. Are you a natural leader, an inspirator and do you want to further develop our long-term fundraising strategy? Then we are looking for you!
To grow our fundraising capacity, create long term relationships and inspire our volunteers in the Netherlands, we are looking for a game-changer in exciting times. Since 2006 Niños de Guatemala provides underprivileged children with an education. With three operating schools, three social businesses, almost 500 students, 50 employees, and multiple (international) collaborations, no day is the same.
As our Operations Manager and Fundraiser NL you will develop a clear fundraising strategy and manage the (voluntary) fundraising teams to realize their targets. You will be part of the International Board of NDG, with you taking the lead for the strategy and all activities in the Netherlands. This means nurturing our existing key relationships, expanding on our existing network, developing new sources of income generation and identifying innovative opportunities for funding. All to improve our impact and continuously support our goals of education, empowerment and entrepreneurship!
You
You are an entrepreneurial go-getter and up for a challenge. You communicate with ease, love social gatherings and easily identify and ask (new) contacts and companies for financial commitment. You are flexible, self-starting and love to work with others as well as taking time on your own to write down new fundraising strategies. You are a social being and combine your people skills easily with a strong focus on business results and new opportunities. You are very organized and you love to nourish the flexible and dynamic nature of the Dutch volunteer team(s).
Responsibilities
As Operations Manager and FundraiserNL, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and achieving a range of sustainable and proactive fundraising activities, methods and initiatives to increase our income and raise the profile of our organisation in the Netherlands (and Europe). You will manage NDG NL’s operations with all its volunteers and hold responsibility for financial soundness and accountability.
Local costs have been rising due to inflation and a growing organization, thus a fresh view that can give our business model a more sustainable way forward is crucial to continue our growth. You will be the one designing the vision and strategy for NL in the next years to come and as an international board member, you will take part in steering the overall course of the organization.
Requirements
You have a relevant university degree with a minimum of 3 years of work experience. You are familiar with a corporate environment and you are now looking to make a difference. You are flexible, result oriented and target driven. You have the ability to motivate, guide and develop a team. You have strong social, communicative and diplomatic skills and are fluent in Dutch, English and (preferably) Spanish. You have excellent public speaking skills. You are flexible and able to attend events in the evenings and weekends.
Niños de Guatemala provides underprivileged children with an education. NDG runs two primary schools and a secondary school which house over 500 Guatemalan children that would otherwise not have been able to go to school. The organization aims for self-sufficiency through social business initiatives such as a Spanish school, fair trade coffee and tourist activities. Central to our success are the commitment and involvement of the local community, especially those of the children and the adolescents we serve.
