IESC – the International Executive Service Corps – is a US based not-for-profit with a focus on supporting private enterprise in developing countries. We have worked in partnership with local people in 130 countries - mainly with the generous support of USAID - designing, implementing, managing and evaluating a wide range of market driven solutions along the entire value chain of a company or industry.
IESC is seeking an access to finance and investment technical lead for an anticipated USAID funded agricultural value chain development program in Ethiopia. It is anticipated that the program will strengthen the competitiveness of select value chains, increase access to finance, improve the enabling environment in coordination with the Government of Ethiopia, and stimulate private sector investment and innovation. This position is full-time and based in Ethiopia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee activities that improve availability and accessibility of financial services and products;
- Coordinate closely with the chief of party to incorporate all activities into a coherent work plan;
- Improve access to finance for underserved areas through advising and assisting financial service providers to design and implement new financial services and products;
- Promote access to finance for youth and women in rural areas of Ethiopia;
- Structure specific lending to the agriculture sector;
- Serve as the principal liaison between financial institutions, including banks, microfinance institutions, impact investors, and other financial service providers;
- Work with international consultants and local project staff involved in expanding access to finance to ensure quality and timelines of pertinent deliverables under the programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, finance, international development or related field required; advanced degree highly preferred;
- Minimum of eight years of technical experience in banking, investment, and financial services;
- Strong knowledge of and experience with financial inclusion concepts;
- USAID or other donor experience high preferred;
- Ethiopian nationals highly encouraged to apply;
- Experience working in Ethiopia highly preferred;
- English fluency required.
