IESC – the International Executive Service Corps – is a US based not-for-profit with a focus on supporting private enterprise in developing countries. We have worked in partnership with local people in 130 countries - mainly with the generous support of USAID - designing, implementing, managing and evaluating a wide range of market driven solutions along the entire value chain of a company or industry.
IESC is seeking a trade and markets specialist for an anticipated USAID funded agricultural value chain development program in Ethiopia. It is anticipated that the program will strengthen the competitiveness of select value chains, increase access to finance, improve the enabling environment in coordination with the Government of Ethiopia, and stimulate private sector investment and innovation. This position is full-time and based in Ethiopia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support market access activities in the designated agricultural value chains to improve food and economic security;
- Develop export promotion strategy and an export and trade training curriculum, as well as other relevant technical assistance programming;
- Identify key stakeholders (beneficiaries, government, donors, private sector, etc.);
- Work to build local exporter capacity;
- Lead program activities focused on improving the availability of market information to stakeholders along each of the targeted value chains
- Bring processing and packaging approaches into compliance with international standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, agribusiness, business or related field required; advanced degree preferred;
- Minimum of seven years of experience working in trade facilitation, market linkages (both domestic and international), export promotion, and/or agribusiness sectors;
- Experience working with international buyers and distinguishing buy requirements, including technical specifications, quality standards, certificates, etc.
- Familiarity and experience with international development principles and practices, specifically in Ethiopia;
- Ethiopian nationals highly encouraged to apply;
